I don't know what Oregon Amy has been to, but she is way off.
The western half of Oregon has two mountain ranges, the Cascades down the center of the state separating the two halves, and the Mountain range further west. There are trees and hills most everywhere you look. The Oregon coastline is phenomenal, with sandy beaches in some areas, rugged rocky areas in other areas, and a great long section of sand dunes in the south-central area.
Between the Cascade Mountains and the Coast Range are several large agriculturally rich valleys, the Willamette Valley from south of Portland to Eugene; The Umpqua Valley around Roseburg, and the Rogue Valley from Medford south. These valleys are flatland and rolling hills, farmland, and all of the states major cities are in these areas as well.
The eastern half of Oregon is high desert, with low hills, sage brush, livestock areas, irrigated farmland. This is where you will find fewer trees and less "green". But it has it's own beauty, and is very much what one would generally regard as country rural.
Bend was the first city that came to mind when I saw your question. It's a small city in the central heart of Oregon, just on the east side of the Cascades. Personally, I like Eugene/Springfield the best. But, after a bit more thought, I would say that, if I had to choose one city in all of Oregon as the most picturesque, it would be Astoria, in the far NorthWest corner of the state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astoria,_Oregon
However ... there are many many pretty, quaint, and attractive cities and towns in Oregon, far too may to mention. Visit websites of the various towns to get a feel for them. Better yet, go visit!!

Pichi is right, Amy is way off. I'm pretty sure she either doesn't know west from east or has never been to the western part of Oregon.
Oregon has a lot of beautiful cities, so I can't pick one. Some of the prettiest cities are Portland, Ashland, Cannon Beach, and Hood River.

Depends on your preference. If you want ocean, forrest, mountains, rivers, a lake...etc.
I grew up in Oregon and have been all over the state. I think Bend, Oregon is a cool town. Also down South places like Grants Pass and Medford. On the coast ...Newport and places around Florence are cool. They can get a lot of rain in the winter but overall Oregon is a beautiful State.

The western half of the state is flat. No trees, just flat and open. the eastern half has lots of trees and greenery and is hilly, especially the south eastern corner. If you want nice rolling hills and trees that turn in the fall then stick with the southeast part. There's a couple of lakes that are nice, lake Eufaula and Grand lake at Grove. The state is really totally different from the north west to the south east....there's no comparison.
