Seinfeld was the greatest sitcom of all time, because of one simple man: Larry David. The man is a genius. The 2 seasons he was not with the show are definitely noticable in that the humor changed, but was still funny. If you compare it to other shows, like the aforementioned Cheers, it goes like this: Cheers was a great show in itself, but it had a slow start and a slow end. Seinfeld was a show that was intricately designed to develop exactly how things went in David's life...with some strech, as there were 4 characters on the show, and not one. The presentation of the lines and story was interesting all throughout the series that its hard for another series to match. Hands down, Larry David is a genius, and Jerry, George, and Kramer's delivery of his humor is unmatched, and probably never will be.

Seinfeld was one of my favorite sitcoms and I can say that there are few like Seinfeld that I can watch again and again and each show is just as funny as the first time I saw it.
However, (I was born in 1960) at different times in my life I thought other shows were the funniest shows:
Leave it to Beaver, because it was about two young boys trying to figure out life.
Laugh In, because it was so irreverent for its time
Andy Griffith, because the interaction between Andy Griffith and Don Knotts.
Carol Burnett Show, again Harvey Korman and Tim Conway were unbeatable as a pair.
Green Acres, com'n a diva and a businessman move to the country and have to adapt. Too funny!
Mary Tyler Moore, great ensemble cast.
M.A.S.H., great humor from an all-around perfect cast. Got too serious when Alan Alda started directing some of the shows.
Therefore, it's hard to say one show is funnier than others because each one serves a unique purpose in its own time.

Seinfeld was okay. Will & Grace is funnier, somehow. If you like sitcoms. Canned laughter is its own thing. I prefer to laugh when something's funny, not on cue. For the best classic sitcom, I think the Honeymooners are really good.

We all have our own opinions and MASH, MTM, and Cheers are all good shows, but Seinfeld got to the pop culture level with all its catch phrases that many of us still use today. It was a show about nothing, the annoying little daily things that irk us, and it had great characters. I am an expert on the show and somewhat partial

No. Sorry. Friends was way better, and so was That 70's Show. The only other ones I could suggest are Three's Company, Happy Days, Mork & Mindy, The Monkees, and Laverne and Shirley.
The greatest ever? My vote goes to the sleepy hit WKRP in Cincinati. It's still hilarious to this day!

I think Seinfeld was the best. So many great little stories that really didn't mean anything to anyone but themselves. Just like us. A show about nothing was genius.

No, the Britcom "Are You Being Served?" was much better. It offered many laughs and was consistently interesting; the characters and situations may have been bizarre but they were far more engaging than Seinfeld or any other American sitcom. I mean, who that's seen the show can forget Mr. Humpries' "I'm free!" or Mrs. Slocombe's constant remarks about her... cat :)

residing house of Payne is the only one that includes techniques. Sitcoms are so moronic to me, that I very seldom watch them. regardless of the undeniable fact that I enjoyed Seinfeld, Fraiser, and everyone Loves Raymond.

Not in my opinion. Seinfeld was funny but I liked Friends and Will & Grace much better. I think it's just a difference of opinion.
