No. Its not only the acid that breaks down a battery. The acid is just 1 part of the chemical reaction that causes a battery to make power. The 2 different metals inside the battery break down as well, and eventually the battery ends its useful operating life. Hope that helps.

yes it is possible to recharge an old battery with new acid but you would have to open it up and clean the buildup off the plates inside. This is what kills most batteries. Think of the plates in the battery as being a filter in your furnace. After awhile they get plugged up and don't work as well. Well in your battery the plates actually get a buildup on them slowing the transfer of molecules from one to another creating the electricity to slow down or stop all together. Kind of like putting up a barracade on the interstate.. put enough out there and traffic stops.

If you have some acid try this tried this dump out old acid, rinse out battery with water and fill with new acid.I did this and it lasted another year. The cell plates flake off and short out the cell and sucks all the power from the other cells and the battery goes dead. By rinsing out the flakes it un shorts the cell.

DON'T play around with things you don't know and the "Experts" can lead you astray.
Auto battery don't have acid in the cell now,so playing with chemicals is very dangerous,if you don't know how to handle them or use them.
Example :While a battery is being charged it produces hydrogen any type of ign will cause the battery to explode.
And I hope you or others NEVER see anyone one who has been burnt from a battery explosion.
Please take care. Waltz.

No because the metals inside the battery wear out too. Or batterys die due to slow discharge metal plates become sulfated.

no,sooner or later the battery will go bad ,the cells get weak in them and wont hold a charge,i wish it were that easy but it wont make the battery last forever they all go bad eventually that's why they have a limited life span,on them ,and a limited warranty ,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.
