I have the same problem & it's quite painful. And, no I don't have herpes. My lips are really dry & guess b/c I have to breathe thru my mouth a lot due to a deviated septum. Buy my doctor prescribed me some Vytone, it contains hydrocortisone (available over the counter) and and anti-fungal & anti-bacterial. It really helps. So maybe try so hydrocortison cream a few times a day, don't lick your lips, use vaseline, chapstick, or I use a cocoa butter stick on my lips as well. I just try to keep them as moist as possible. Also, if I get the urge to lick my lips I dip my finger in plain water & dab that on my lips. Because saliva has a lot of germs in it & probably makes it worse. If none of that helps, see your doc. Good luck.

You must be having an allergic reaction to something in the Vasaline because petroleum jelly is the main component of Vasaline and that is in what most lip glosses are made of.

Here's what you do:
Take a warm wet towel and scrub your lips. Then apply Vaseline.

i heard that since vaseline (and chapstick) contain petroleum, which actually dires out your lips, so that could be what happened. however, it usualy works for most people i know, so i'm not sure how relieable that statement was.

Give it a few days - it'll probably clear up. I think I've had that too.
