NO, It is a myth. Actually the smoke you are blowing in there ear is a major factor in kids getting ear infections. Smoking around children ( cars, house, on your clothes when you go outside to smoke) increases your children's chance of getting ear infections and asthma 4 fold. To answer the queston, the best treatment for pain of ear infections is tylenol, ibuprofen and topical ear drops such as auralgan ( benzocaine). Actually, antibiotics are becoming less favorable in the treatment as well. A few recent studies have shown no harm or time to cure with withholding antibiotics and just using pain control. Antibiotic are still recommended in children under 12-18 months. The best natural way to cure ear infections to prevent them, DON'T SMOKE IF YOU HAVE LITTLE KIDS!

I have a son, Joey Niceforo, who is a young 27 year old tenor, with a group called "DESTINO" recording in Vancouver Bc, Canada.

For the last few weeks Joey has had a cold. Just a few days ago he developed an ear ache, a swollen ear and loss of hearing. He was diagnosed with serous otitis media (middle ear infection).

The major concern we have is that Joey and the Group DESTINO have been booked to open the Marie Osmond show in Disney World on April 3,

Have a quick remedy for our son??

Joey's ear got better just before flying.

He also got the special ear plugs for flying, and arrived in Florida, from Vancouver, on April 1st. On April 2nd he told us the ear was almost 100 percent, and he will, with the other, great DESTINO tenors be performing, in the COLORADO BALL ROOM DISNEY WORLD tonight at 7 pm.

This help was so effective, and helpful, to our young Canadian tenor, Joey Niceforo. I'm sure this input and therapy advice will, and has helped others.

Yes, that is an old wives tale. The warm moist air of the breath is the "ease of pain" factor. Temporary ear ache can be treated with a warm cloth, cotton in the ear to keep the draft/cold out, etc. If it persists, seek medical attention. It is sometimes caused by an infection elsewhere in the body. Good hearing is invaluable. Don't neglect taking it seriously.

Actually, it does help. My grandmother used to blow cigarette smoke in my ears when I'd have an ear ache and it would quit hurting shortly there after. It isn't a cure, but definitely a relief.

I have never heard that but if you take a teaspoon of sweet oil ( that is virgin olive oil) which you can get from your pharmacist then you can heat that up with a lighter and when it is lukewarm NOT HOT, you can put a few drops in the affected ear. That will soothe it. Make sure you see the doctor though if it does not get better as you do not want an ear infection.

I can vividly remember having that smoke blown into my ear and my Dad making fun of me cause he said it was coming right out of the other ear on the other side (meaning there was nothing in the middle). I don't recall which cause he smoked both ways. My Mom; however, was a firm believer in clove oil for everything. She would warm it up and pour it into our hurting ear. Did it help? Who knows..... lol

My Mom would do this and give me a blowey immediately after. Not sure if the smoke or the BJ relieved my ear ache. Maybe a little of both?

I find when I am constipated, I usually have a burly bearded man blow cigarette smoke up my *** through a turkey bastor. Never tried smoke in the ear. But man, I farted smoke rings for days.
