The size of the Harddrive (250 GB) has nothing to do with the amount of memory you need. Most normal applications will run well with 512 meg of ram but if you do a lot of gaming, working with pictures or that type thing I'd increase it to at least 1024 meg.

You cannot have 250GB of memory, 256GB yes.

If you are running WIN2000 or WIN XP you really need to acquire
more memory (RAM). Read your motherboard User Guide.

Other wise you have to get the make and model number of your motherboard and use that to go on line to find the correct RAM to BUY.

Last, unplug your computer, open the case, remove one stick of RAM, write down the information on it that is required to supporting the purchase of identical RAM! Do not mix RAM manufactures or type.

1 GB is minimum ideal!

your problem could be twofold, working equipment, updates and information superhighway cache crap tend to clog up reminiscence and processor area which has a tendency to slow structures substantially. receive a loose version of "CCleaner" from record Hippo to bathe out lots of the OS and information superhighway crap that "equipment cleanup" won't do away with. each time you hook up with the information superhighway and pass to a cyber web internet site, your cyber web browser collects and shops cookies and non everlasting information superhighway data. once you reconnect to the information superhighway all of those saved temp information superhighway data test the internet for updates as nicely as each and every of the applications you have put in so your workstation seems to be working slow while in actuality its busy updating crap. So working CCleaner in many circumstances will shop maximum of that crap out so it does not consume up your equipment supplies. 2nd, over heating. Your workstation is a year previous now and greater desirable than probably you have in no way opened the case to bathe the dirt and lint buildup off the capability grant and CPU fan and warmth sink. (do no longer use a Vacuum to bathe the interior your workstation because it is going to build static that could desire to zap delicate components on the motherboard) Use a delicate bristle paint brush to dirt the followers and warmth sink or take the full element out section and use compressed air to blow the dirt out.
