because boot camp is funny, combat is serious, and unlike CBS's new ad campaign Nothing about the Army is seriously funny.

As long as he remains in Training, They can poke fun at the unfit Sergeant, the HoTT secretary, the Lazy GI, and the Drunk General, and all the other archetypes that the strip derives its comedy from, but put any or all of them in a Life threatening situation and the funny stops
