The Classic Controller is for backward-compatibility only (GameCube and Virtual Console games). All of the Wii games depend on the motion sensing of the Wiimote and/or the nunchaku, which the Classic Controller doesn't provide.
Trust me, though, once you've played a game with the Wiimote, you'll never want to use any other kind of controller again.

No, classic controller works with no Wii games, only Virtual Console games. And, if u already have a gamecube controller, u just wasted 20$, gamecube controllers are compatible with all Virtual console games. To corkeycore, u can not pick if u want motion sensing, and it is called a Wii remote, not a motion simulation, LOL.

the classic controller plays only the classic games and the remote simulator controller plays every other game. (you can choose if you want motion simulation or not)
