You mean 'role' of the goverment right?
Well, to control inflation, increase employment, maintain stability in the economy, promote growth, prevent major breakdown in economy, control the amount of money in the country etc.
Basically to act as 'the big brother'.

the plan of the economy is to carry on with margaret thatchers plans to create a service nation, a service nation takes an economic back seat so that outher nations can use britain as a means to prosper, to acheive this thatcher had to whipe out the economy of the working class, this meant that big employers like the car and truck biulding factories had to be sabotaged, this was done by not modernising there cars so that more modern foreign cars would be bought, and causing strikes in the industry in order to sabotage it. then whiping it out, as with steel, coal farms ect, ect The proffits from foreign goods of all kinds go to the foreign companies, not to britain, the working class have all but been whiped out. this is done to surrender britain to europe,Europe will eventualy make all the laws and we british scavengers with no real work will be forced to obey, we are going to collapse, because we are not selling we are only repairing fori-eign goods that have been sold to us, that makes us poorer. those who say our economy is good are those few at the top the economy of the real british is useless.

The 'Roll Of The Government' may be cheese, ham, or a much more upmarket type such as beef and horseradish wih rocket leaves.
The 'Role Of The Government' will be something quite different.

Not just this one but any of them.
Their role is to smooth the way for money to do what it wants when it wants while providing an increased bureaucracy with high wages and pensions.
They have no other duties.
The rest is playing put and take.

that depends on your political leaning. In general it can be said to maintain order (ie police and legal system) and (arguably) correct market failure.
That defintion leads to a wide range of debate about how much the gov should intervene.
