Well, the method by which internet service is delivered to your house depends on which company you pay for the service. If you obtain DSL access from your phone company then they will use their phone lines. If you obtain access from your cable company, then they will use the coaxial TV cable and split it off to a special modem. If you get access from your power company (less common) they will actually transfer the data over the power line! If you wanted, you could even have dedicated fiber optic cable run into your home for really high speed connection. If you subscribe to a local area wireless network, then the internet access gets to your home wirelessly.

The point is there are many, many ways to deliver internet access. The way you get it depends on whose service you choose to subscribe.

I get my internet from my cable company. It comes right through the same line as the 200 plus lineup of channels I get.

a cable line is when you have it through your cable company, a telephone line is when you get the line through your telephone company
