We have seen it so many times in movies, evil person diagnosed with terminal illness becomes a very good person complete with a halo. Do you think that is true and possible in real life?

. I think it is more likely that the person who displays such a change was aware of the faults in their behavior, but to concentrated on their selected pursuits to take the time or effort to change. Discovering a terminal illness forced them to drop those pursuits and freed them to make the change in their behavior the y already knew they needed to.
. I think that a person who is so screwed up that they don't even know they are bad is not likely to be changed by the illness, and is very likely to only behave even more badly.

Sure.

We all say that we try to value our lives, but until it becomes clear the end is near, people don't really appreciate stuff. Even I have the assumption that there will be time down the road to do things I mean to do, or more time to spend and more love to give. When that "end" gets a more definite date, you panic and realize that you really don't have forever to get all those things in.

Maybe not all people handle it this way, but most of would. It's the belief we might miss out that pushes people to hold on to life tighter than they ever did. It's a good thing I think, a last thing to have before you go.

When facing death, people tend to change wheter for good or for bad. Some people try to start over for the time they have left, redeem themselves, etc. Others get bitter towards life in general or lose the wish of keep on living.

Some others simply decide to be the same until the moment arrive so their beloved ones won't see a change on them, hence, won't get sad.

Possible; consider the power of the motivation. I have no data on this , though, so I could be very wrong in what direction the person is motivated.

If you didn't have the qualities before, why would you change now? That's kinda sad! I think it could very well happen, but I don't really know how serious or sincere the person really is! People do change, but does it really come from the :GUT"???
