I have 3 children.

One slept through the night after a couple of weeks. The others didn't. Most do not.

Typically a newborn should not sleep in more than a 5hr block. Their tummies are so tiny that they do need to fill them up frequently. If she was a little older I would say 'dont wake her' but she's only 2 1/2wks. And when they are this young you cant tell by looking at them if they are gaining weight well or not. For the next few weeks I wouldnt let her sleep in more than a 5hr block. You should go into her room and make a bit of noise, that should be enough to rouse her. If your Dr gives you the green light at your appt, then lucky you!!

No. Its normal for them to eat that much and wake up every 2 hours or so during the night. It will last a while. My first 2 sons did pretty well, and stopped waking up so often around 6 months, but my 3rd son woke up every 2 to 3 hours for almost the whole year. Drove me crazy. But every baby is different. IF you mean she is already sleeping through the night, then Fine. Be happy ..lol Some babies do that too.

Hahahahaa. Sorry. I am laughing WITH you (in about 2 years). A very rare baby might occassionally sleep through the night at this age. If you are breastfeeding, you can expect to be awoken every 2 hours, 3 if you're lucky. Nap during the day with your baby and if you're nursing, make sure she nurses adequately during the day. It will eventually get better, but you might have another 6 weeks or so before you see much improvement.

My daughter, now 6, slept through the night the first night home and continued to do so and she was just fine. When I say sleeping through the night I mean 6 hours to begin with. If you're talking like 9 hours or something that might be a little too much and if I was you I would wake her at least once. Good luck and congrats on your baby!

No. At 2 1/2 weeks your baby still needs to wake up and eat during the night.

My neice slept through the night when she was a newborn but now that she is 1 she has started waking up crying in the middle of the night. My 6 week old son hasnt started sleeping through yet but if he did id be grateful. But hey it might be a good thing that he doesnt. Otherwise he might end up like his cousin.

Be cautious i guess is all i have to say.

No. Babies generally don't sleep through the night until about 8 weeks or so. One of mine was 9 weeks and the other was 9 months. Good luck and expect nothing!

All babies are different. There is no table that is set in stone on how old a baby is when they start sleeping through the night. I am a mother of 4 and each of my children starting sleeping through the night at different ages. Good luck.

Ah, if only. I think it might actually be rare that a 2 1/2 week old sleeps through the night. Hang in there, you have a way to fo still.
