It was judge Roy Bean. AKA The Law West Of The Paco's,The hanging judge. The town and the Saloon where named after a English singer Lilie Langtry. Texas history we learned in grade school. Life is to short to live as anything other then a TEXAN.

Judge Roy Bean was justice of the peace of Langtry for nearly twenty years. Bean did call his saloon the Jersey Lilly in honor of the singer, Emilie Lillie Langtry.
