It depends on what you are interested in. There are a lot of specialty seed companies out there, selling heirloom vegetables, hundreds of kinds of tomatoes, cacti & succulents, etc. If you have a special interest area in seeds, do an Internet search and you will get tons of hits.

Park's, Burpee's and Stoke's are all good general seed companies. I have done business with all of them and have been satisfied with the seeds and with their business practices.

All in all, I now favor Thompson & Morgan. They have a really interesting variety of flower, herb, and vegetable seeds. They aren't the cheapest, but the seeds are high quality and germinate well. The best part, though, is that they carry some very unusual seeds of all sorts, and their catalog (both the paper one and on-line) has photos and detailed information on starting the seeds and then growing the plants to maturity. It's definitely worth checking out!

Park Seeds

I used to use Burpee exclusively, but all things considered, Parks has the best variety, best customer service, and best seed sprouting systems. They are not the cheapest. And, I wouldn't pay the high prices for their plants, most of which are available from the local nurseries.

There are certain seed companies that specialize in certain types of seed and they just can't be found anywhere else. If you want organic, Parks doesn't provide a large variety.

Others of merit:

Stokes
Totally Tomatoes https://www.totallytomato.com/
(has peppers and some other speciality seeds as well)
