I am an R. N. Worked with moms and babies for over 25 years. This is a very common problem. Need to see your doctor. Both Mom and baby need to be treated or they keep giving it back and forth to each other. There is a creme for your nipples and drops for baby's mouth. Do call the doc. I'm sure you will both do well.

I used to work as a R.N. but didn't know the answer so I did a Yahoo search on, "thrush and breast feeding". The website listed as #1 was, www.breastfeeding.com. From reading that I found out that you can get a yeast infection (thrush) of the nipple from breast feeding a baby that has thrush of the mouth.

I urge you to look on this website as I believe that it will answer all your questions on this and also be a valuable resource as you continue to breast feed your baby. You don't have to stop just because your baby has thrush.

God bless you and your baby.
