We need to stop blaming the government and start asking ourselves why children aren't listening to classical music, jazz, etc and music that has been made just for them. I disagree that it's not the parents' fault. It most certainly is! Each year the school I worked at had a talent show. It was a disgrace how many of our children would perform music by Brittany Spears, Madonna, N Sync and others. The school could not put a ban on this as the parents would raise @#$%! you know what. The girls would come dressed like little fashion queens etc. If you get the picture. The whole thing became a joke! These kids should have been encouraged to play piano or other instruments or sing a children's tune and tap dance. These were Kindergarten through 5th graders! Parents do not encourage their children to listen to all the great stuff that is out there that is age appropriate.

Thank you for this opportunity. I am concerned about the general impact of the violence demonstrated in most music during this generation. It is all about drugs, sex, and murder. People do not realize the brainwashing effect inherent to listening to repetitive music lyrics that sound more like Halloween movies than music to ones ears. Ratings do not work because society has no respect for each other anymore. Even school systems do not provide monetary support to music programs. Scientific proof exists that listening to certain frequencies does affect brain waves with potential risks or benefits to ones health. In fact music is used for therapeutic purposes and can improve the cognitive development for children.
