First of all You need not to worry about how much a lawyer cost cause what you need to know is what is they ex going to get.
You need to see if you are going to have contest or uncontested first you can only do this with your ex and you need to agree on what she is going to keep and what you are getting if you have done this then that makes a big deal. The biggest thing is do you have children that will hurt you in most state's it is 62% of you pay not much for you to live on but they do not care about you living in a box.. I would say the going rate for a good lawyer is $150.00 to $200.00 and hour so if you need to talk to your lawyer on the phone keep it short. It isn't any fun and hope you are ready for a stress

The costs can be from $1000 to more than 10k. A lot of it depends on how friendly the divorce is and how well you two can work it out. The more fighting the more money it costs.

i went to see a lawyer and she wanted a $1500 retainer and her $200/hr came out of that till it was gone then she billed me. i do know that if you file it costs more than if your spouse does but you may not get what you want.
