i just want to say that i'm glad to hear someone out there is still reading James Herriot and finding it a good read. i read those such a long time ago and still remember them fondly. yes, Hitchhiker's Guide is good. it's out there, for sure, and might not want to read all the volumes at once, but it's pretty funny sometimes. i'm sure i know a ton more but can never think of them on the spot. there's a parody of The Da Vinci Code, very short, that's funny if you've read the original. (the champagne code, or something). Also try Wodehouse, who invented the orignal Jeeves butler character. Very cute. And British. So you might like it if you liked Herriot.

A Dog's Life by Peter Mayle
The Unexpected Mrs. Polifax by Gilman
Brett Lott wrote a good one, but I can't remember the exact title. It was something like I Married a Librarian and Lived To tell About It or something like that. I laughed outloud. I want to read his book "The Greatest White Trash Love Story Ever Told" soon.

The most hilarious books I have ever read are some childrens' books. Here are a few I beg you to try. I know a few other adults who have also laughed outloud over them.

I Want to Go Home! by Gordon Korman
A Long Way From Chicago by Richard Peck
Henry Reed, Inc.
The Great Brain by John Fitzgerald
Sheila the Great by Judy Blume
Go Jump in the Pool by Gordan Kormon
Me and the Weirdos by Sutton
