In spite of what the 1st poster said(maybe he was out to lunch)the big brew ha ha before this war started was the Saddam had or was acquiring WMD. And Bush wanted to get in there before the UN inspectors were finished because he knew there was none there, and if that fact was pointed out by the UN, he could not go in there and do a Luca Brasi type hit to avenge the family name.

For any one who thinks Uncle Sam has won or is winning I can say they have not looked at or follow history or they are just straight out loons. For there has only been ONE, and ONLY ONE insurgency put down by military action and that was Pol Pot and the Kumer Rouge by the NV regulars. If you count the Bay of Pigs then it is 2. The soviets fought for more than 12 years in Afghanistan; left empty handed. The Contras were not beaten in Nicaragua, the FARC has not been quashed in Columbia. The Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka have been fighting for 25 year, The only thing to slow them down was a tsunami. Do Bush have one of those at his command? The IRA was never defeated, they layed their arms down. I know fellow American hate to lose but there is no win to be had there in Iraq.

If they would only reverse the mentality. If someone invaded America with the intention of making a better government with free health care, no homeless, no crime etc. But they tried to force a different religion and way of life on us. Do you think at some point everyone here would give up and say "they aren't leaving and they only mean good for us, so lets do it their way"? Every deer hunter, guy with a gator gun, gang banger with a Mac 10 will be united to fight off the threat until it is gone or they can not fight any longer. If that is the way people here would defend Detroit, LA, or San Francisco, etc, why would they think those who live in Ramadi, Sadr City, or Bagdhad would be different?

Iraq is not another Vietnam in the sense , Americans do have oil at stake over here wheras Vietnam was a more obscure location and the war was more about containing communism

Iraq was not even supporting terrorism , infact it was one of the regions in Mid east where Al Qiada didnt have a presence . Yet Bush started this personal war and messed up the larger war on terror

The major difference between the Iraq war and the Vietnam war is that when the US left Vietnam, the war was over, but when the US leaves Iraq they will have to continue dealing with terrorism which will not go away.

No.

America lost twice. Once when Bush "won" the presidency and again when Rumsfeld naively invaded Iraq.

America has won nothing but negative reactions for doing the whole thing without proper international agreement. I'm glad Canada said yes to Afghanistan and no to Iraq. America certainly didn't win approval from most of its closest allies or its closest neighbours.

America kinda won when it removed Saddam Hussein from power, that was the original purpose.

America is losing the battle for heart and minds in occupied Iraq, and is losing the battle for peace.

The USA is still far from total victory in Iraq. Maybe it'll change in a few years.

The dems have done their part to make it so... what they have done is the very reason Lincoln had those (who were doing the same thing) put in jail. You just don't do those things in a time of war..Is called aiding the enemy.

The main difference is; in Viet Nam there was no threat against the US being attacked. This time we have already been attacked and the threat is to annihilate us as a civilization. As well as all none Muslim countries. This they are commanded to do by order of their qua ran.

At this time in my life..I am ashamed to be a naturalized American

We'll never win over there, there will never peace in the middle east.

The only way that there will be peace in that country is if we nuke the place. And that's never going to happen. Thank God.

Same BS- send men over but never quite enough to finish it. What do you think?
Too bad too- and the insurgents are too stupid, if they just knocked it off for awhile , we would go home and they would have their country to do whatever.
