I think we lose our innocence by the world we live in. People are generally nice, but then as we grow older people begin complaining and we learn the ways of survival and it isn't always pretty. I guess through experience is how we lose it and it is sad when you think of it that way, but we are gaining knowledge and wisdom.

That depends. When we're younger we kinda live in a fantasy world: santa claus, the fairy tooth, etc. also we're in a state of innocence about many facts of life. When we start realising about the truth on these, in a way that changes our live, we "lose the innocence". Personally, knowing that Santa wasn't real was more of a shock to me than knowing how babies were made :)

That sounds like an assumption to me. Then when you see a little old lady dressed in her old lady stockings and shoes and floral printed dress and blue hair ... you don't see innocence? (That's just an example, one of many possible examples) It didn't go away and come back. It just get's covered up with conditioning and learning of a very materialistic and self-centered, competative and deluded society and culture. But what can be learned, can also be unlearned. Like chalk on a chalkboard.

As we get older, life is not so nostalgic and perfect. We see things that changes our take on reality and hardens us. We make decisions not based on the basic good, but based on experiences that we have encountered. We lose what is ideally true and right. The mean world shapes us, and in the process we have to adapt to fit in it and survive, so we lose our innocence to survive. Then we make decisions that chip away at our wholesome beliefs and "good" and true state of mind.....

As a child we just observe the world, give and receive love unconditionally, then we start gaining knowledge and start participating, judging, then negative elements like anger, frustration come into play. Innocence is lack of these negative elements.

When we are young we see the world with a child eyes. Children are naive. You do not see the problems. You do not have any responsabilities. The older we get, more problems we have , more responsabilities we have. It is a natural part of life and what be mature means.

I think you are still innocent if you dont know yourself. At another hand today in the world of casts and greeds and to compete in that leads us loss our innocence. just look at the infants who dont know his cast, color or wealth. He will cry for mother and no luxury soothes him. But we can leave our parents fot it. so think you will get all answers.
