Example I haven't had the easiest life, I'm handicapped, I've been abused,and & left by my father but I would not change anything that happened because I think that it has made me a better mother & a more caring person. I can sit here & think life sucks or be like my sister who uses her childhood as a reason to use drugs or I can think if those things hadn't happened maybe I wouldn't appreciate what I have. Any thoughts?

sounds to me like you need to be applauded! I feel like the more horrible the experiences you have in life, the more of an opportunity you have to see ultimate beauty and positivity as well. Thich nat Hanh says that the seed of hate and regret can grow into a cancer of hate and horrible feeling, which is garbage. But only the stinkiest, foulest, wet, nasty compost grows the best garden. Many times we have to experience every corner of hell and despair before we recognize what good fortune really is, and it sounds like you have. Kudos Mom!

I am an Optimist !! Sounds like you have always made lemonaide out of sour lemons. Once we have reached a certain age, we are responsible for our own happiness. We can't blame our parents for every lifes bad deals. God doesn't give us any more than we can handle and I too believe that in the long run we will come out on top. All good things come to those who wait. You got the right idea. Hopefully your sister can come your way too. Take care and may God bless you and yours, Always !!
