I do not agree with your argument.
If I go to the middle east for an overseas experience, does that mean I should convert to Islam and wear their clothes so as not to be ridiculed? No I wont. I wouldn’t leave my culture and beliefs behind because that’s a part of who I am, it ain’t a material thing that you can simply detach from yourself if you wanted to. Do you get my drift? I suppose we all just have to be aware of the differences, and respect these differences. Racism roots from the belief that a culture of a group of people is the only ‘right culture’ and should be followed by everyone else. I also think it's more of a give and take situation, you aquire new practices, but you retain your traditions and ideologies.
Someone goes to a different country, tries to leave his culture behind, and comply to what his present environment believes in. somehow, that person’s sense of identity becomes lost, and that person might think that this “new culture” defines him, when the fact is that, it doesn’t.

First, white european history is exactly that HISTORY.
No one should have to leave their cultures and beliefs behind anywhere! That's what makes everyone special.
Racism occurs because people are uneducated about other cultures and don't understand them, or are just mean hate filled people.
Neither of which is the fault of the offended person.
Yes, I feel you are wrong.

I most certainly do think you're wrong. Why on earth should they leave their cultures & beliefs behind? This is what makes life so rich--much to learn from others. (Religions, ethnic foods, music...& more.) Racism & trouble isn't caused by such people; it's caused by ignorance, bias & down-right mean spiritedness. History cannot be "taken over." Cultures are not replaced. I DO believe more effort should be given to learning their new country's language, (not abandon theirs). I can't see your problem. & you're welcome!
*** I should read the answers before I answer! Why on earth does "Natasha" assume you're speaking of black people, & then proceed to bash you? Very, very nasty! Also, why should wearing a veil upset anyone? (I prefer it to spiked pink hair--but it's really none of my business either way.) You asked your question in a perfectly civil way; I just don't agree with you.

people could have the call of who they like to be with. in case you prefer to be with purely white people, then all of the ability to you and that i appreciate your selection. yet i won't help compelled marriages, in an attempt to maintain the white race. Multiculturalism is a failure, purely by way of fact it helps branch among the people. It creates distinctive rulesets for various cultures, races, and doing so purely motives extra conflict between people. The melting pot, which continues to be dependable to one set of regulations.. integrates the people jointly as allowing people to maintain their own background. It brings the better of all cultures to the U. S. and mixes them with what already exists, and leaves the inhumane components out. fortuitously, Europe is beginning as much as capture directly to this.

THANK YOU!!!!!! You are so right! It is. When people come to our European countries, they must adopt to our ways and respect our beliefs/traditions over theirs. They are the guests after all. This is exactly why racism starts. Like having the teachers all veiled-up in classes. That's not the British way of teaching our children. They must remove the veil and behave like a Westerner if they want to stay in our country.

Culture is constantly changing, and that is a good thing, otherwise Americans would still be wearing button shoes and eating boiled beef.

I'd be bored stiff if we only had "white" culture. Asian, African, Native, Mediterranean... all have made great contributions to the US. The more the merrier, I say.
