When the opponent plays a DRAW 2 card or a DRAW 4 card: if I were to have a DRAW 2 or a DRAW 4 in my possesion, could I play that card and force my opponent to draw, either 4 (in the DRAW 2 scenario) or DRAW 8 (in the DRAW 4 scenario?) Subsequently, could my opponent place a DRAW 4 on top of the 2nd DRAW 4 that I placed down and force me to draw 12?

My boyfriend seems to not understand these rules but this is the way we have always played. He has gone over the rule book and feels that I am totally wrong about this.

Are these made-up rules or is this the way UNO is played? Any help would be appreciated.

The way it is played you call out the “House Rules” before you play. Before The “House Rules” families would call out just how they would play.
These “House Rules” were submitted to the company by consumers in public contest ( I think in late2002) they were different ways people played Uno they where put on cards, and put in Uno games. There is also a blank "House Rules” card to encourage you/your family to come up with your own rules and you can mix up the “House Rules”

The rule you list is a "house rule", not part of the official rules. The official rule governing the Draw Two and Wild Draw Four cards is as follows: If a player (legally) plays one of these cards, the next player must draw the appropriate number of cards and loses his turn (though the WD4 play can be challenged).

I've always thought you can do this. You should be able to place any card of the same value (like Draw 2 or Draw 4) on top of any other card of that value, or color. So my vote is yes. I've always played it that way. It sucks, but that's the game!

no . when your opponent plays a draw 2 or 4 you have to draw and forfeit your turn. the person after you could then play a draw 2 or 4 card on top of that and make the person after them draw and forfeit.

No. You have to play whatever color was called. If there's only 2 players, then you could play a skip of the chosen color, then another skip of another color. That would be the only way you could play two cards, back to back, and change the color as well. Unless of course you played a Wild. Have fun!!
