Any Move they make will be for pitching. Bullpen or starting pitching. Zito is possible, i guess, tho if he wants as much as theyre saying he wants i say screw him. Ted Lilly maybe. Jeff Suppan was supposedly in the mix, as is Gil Meche. I get the feeling the Yankees are starting to realize that they dont need to buy every highpriced freeagent on market to win. They need to fill 2 spots in their rotation, so the pool is Barry Zito/Gil Meche/Jeff Suppan/Ted Lilly/Randy Wolf/Philip Hughes (the yankees top rated starting pitching prospect who is ready for Majors now)/JAson Schmidt (who is out there, but i dont think the yankees want anything to do with him)... out of that group to fill 2 spots in rotation.

"the yankees al ready got 3 minor leagures for sheffield. guess the bronx bombers will be the bronx losers.they will make a stupid trade like that. the big boys(detroit tigers) got sheffield. we are guarenteed a world series win this year(the detroit tigers are)"

You are serious? That was a great trade. The Yanks got three top prospects for a superfluous 40 year old power hitter. Sheff will not be very effective next year. Had the Yanks paid his full 15m contract, he wouldn't even have played. He refused to start at first, the only position they had available.

The Yankees are looking at Shea Hillenbrand, because he is a free agent right handed first baseman. They have expressed interest in relief pitcher Dannys Biez, but he wants to be a closer, and the Yankees have this guy named Mariano Rivera... Let's see how that works out. The Yankees also are looking to resigning reliever Octavio Dotel.

in my opinion the yanks should use their minor league system and bring up Darrell Rasner and Jeff Karstens to fill up the 2 missing spots in the rotation. And if Carl Pavano does something stupid in the middle of the year like get run over by a bus or train we will have Philip Hughes come up and fill his spot in the rotation.

I don't think they will go after Zito or Schmidt. But it could happen. I expect them to go after another starter worth not so much money such as maybe a Randy Wolf or a Gil Meche. I heard recently they are interested in Shea Hillenbrand to be a backup DH/1B.

Somehow they need to bring in a least two blue chip starting pitchers. Reports have it that Barry Zito is close to signing with the Mets but I think George will make him an offer he can't refuse.
