Sometimes I feel attractive, and other times I don't. Lately I've been feeling pretty unattractive, and it's really bringing me down. I've gotten a haircut, and bought some new clothes, but I still feel kind of...frumpy and unpolished, I guess. I hate to be so hung up on something so superficial, but I can't help feeling this way. :-(( My husband tells me that I'm beautiful, but since I gave birth to our son (almost two years ago), I just haven't felt pretty. I really wish I didn't feel this way.

To feel attractive and beautiful first you must feel good about yourself. You need to get involved in something that is going to help you build your self esteem make you feel important. When a woman feels needed and appreciated this always helps boost her confidence hence forth boosting her way she feels about herself. Whether it be a change in career, doing volunteer work in the community or your church something that will pull you away from just being a mom and wife. A woman desperately needs to have something else besides being a wife and a mother. Not that you should abandon that but it helps you to remember who you are and keep you happy. See if you can get a sitter or ask your husband to watch your child for you to go with a couple of girl friends out to lunch or supper, try a night out on the town with your husband and get a motel even if it is in the town you live in.
Getting new clothes and make over is a great start but it does not replace what you are missing in your life that makes you feel unsatisfied with yourself.
I would definitely try to remember what you enjoy doing that could help with your self esteem and self confidence.

If you've had a few kids and have subsequently put on a few pounds, getting the haircut was probably a bad move. Long hair makes you look thinner.

There's more to life than looks, but that doesn't mean they're not important at all. What matters to me most about a woman's looks are #1 Is she thin, #2 Is she clean cut.

Melissa, self-acceptance is key (though I totally and completely agree about getting more exercise: endorphins, y'know?). Is there a chance you are experiencing a bit of depression? That will affect your outlook and self-esteem. Also, some external successes -- even the smallest ones -- could be just the shot in the arm you need. While it's nice to have one's loved ones lavish praise and props on you, it's just not the same as having someone who doesn't know you so well pay you a compliment.

When u get up in the am, put on some makeup, fix ur hair, put on some good fitting clothes (forget the baggy sweats) and face the day, knowing u did the best u could about ur appearance. It`s probably better than u think. The only one u have to please, beside urself, is ur husband, and he already tells u ur beautiful, thats more than most women get. Count ur blessings instead of looking for faults u probably don`t have.

Beauty comes from the inside. You have to truly love yourself and know that no matter what happens you are unique and gorgeous. Your husband and your son love you so much and they want you to be happy.
Everyday when you wake up, look in the mirror, and think of one thing you like about yourself. You are amazing to so many people, and you just need to be amazing to yourself.
