I just sold my tv a few weeks ago.
This is the first time in my life that I haven't had a tv.
The first couple of days were really weird! All I kept thinking was, "there's no tv, what am I going to do now".
But, it's getting better. I'm still really aware that I don't have a tv, but I'm noticing that I'm sure getting a lot of stuff done (and I never really watched that much tv).
I'm most especially aware of it being gone when I'm eating dinner. I always turned on the tv for some reason while I ate dinner. So, now I eat dinner at the kitchen table and turn on the radio.
If I can do it, so can you. Let me know how it goes.

I don't know what I would do, but if there was no option of having a tv that had channels that worked, then I guess I would have to find some other way to get my entertainment, like from the internet, or yes...going outside and finding activities/hobbies to do.
I've only lived without TV for probably 1 week or 2, but this was when I went to the visit my grandmother's cabin up in the mountains, and well, there was no reception there, not even for radio. But, I delt with it, and survived by doing outside things. The hiking, cycling, and 4-wheeling was a lot of fun!

I'm a visual person. I like to see the news and watch sports. Maybe I have lost the child like imagination in my adult years by trying to visualize everything by listening to the radio, but I can't say it's a bad idea.Maybe not seeing all the bad in the world for a week would be good, too bad all the bad won't go away from getting rid of a TV

I think that's pretty impressive. I would like to know how it goes.I dont watch as much as a lot of people, but I still think I watch too much. I believe it would dramatically change my life if I gave up tv. Theres just so much better stuff I could be doing with my time if I didnt waste it in front of the tv.

I think it is a good idea. I, personally wouldn't mind not having TV and I think that it would be a positive change for me and that I would get more done and stuff even though I don't watch all that much TV but my family wouldn't go for that. Since you are probably going to still have your TV in your house unplug it or something so that you don't turn it on without thinking about it. Good Luck!

Well done! This is a move more of should have the courage to make. Maybe then advertisers would stop flooding the airtime and taking up 70% of what we watch.
I know that answer kind of cancells itself out, but I tell you this: If I had the wherewithal to relocate to somewhere beautiful like the country/coast - with fresh air, beautiful scenery and could leave the house without the fear of being attacked by hoodies, then I wouldn't miss my TV for one single second!!
Go for it.

The TV is locked up for the next 24 hours. Food residue etc all over the place. A BIG Mess. No TV till the Mess is cleaned up.

my daughter and I went without tv for a year. When we finally got cable...we were so shocked to see the indecent crap that was on. Now I got everything blocked except nick, disney, and dancing with the stars. To bad I got to pay 50 bucks a month to watch 3 channels.

I don't watch TV, but I get news and entertainment from my computer...
I honestly think TV is for dumb people... why would you want to stare at a screen without being able to interact in any way?
Then again, there's exceptions. I watch movies with my wife because then I can actually spend time with her with out having to hear her criticize and nag. =P
I know she'll read this thinking about how I watch movies with her and be about to give me grief for saying I don't watch TV, so I had to throw that in. *lol*

I have tv, but I opted for no cable, right now. So, all I have are 6 channels. Most of my friends talk about all these tv shows that are on, and I have NO idea what they're talking about half the time. But, it keeps my butt off the couch.
