I'm a bit apprehensive after reading a few pages into a book... I have second thoughts about it, but as I get about 5 or 10 pages into a book, it's wonderful! It just flows as smoothly as honey out of the little bear container... haha... :-)

I suppose that's true now that I think about it. When I pick up a book I seem very wary of it not wanting to waste my time on a book that is not worthy of my time.

I certainly don't feel that way about television!

In my case a few pages. I am reading Katherine Harris' autobiography right now. I had not intended to read the whole thing. I was only consulting it for research I am doing but after two pages I got hooked into it.

yeah I always have second thoughts about books, especially terribly long ones. I usually get into the story within the first 10 - 20 pages otherwise the author has done a poor job and I might stop at that point.

Usually about the first 20 pages, if not then I don't finish the book, unless it was a required reading for school.

Mmm, I'm pretty similar to you. I'm generally hooked or not by the end of the first chapter. I try to at least see it through 'til then to be sure. And sometimes I'll set the book aside and come back to it a few days, weeks or months later to see if I feel the same.

It depends on the book... I found the first Harry Potter book to be really boring a the beginning, but I'm glad I stuck with it now. Usually, if I'm not into it by the end of the first chapter, I don't finish it.

If I'm not hooked by the 2nd paragraph, I toss the book.
Ditto for a movie.
If a movie doesn't grab me in the first 10 minutes, it never will, I'll walk and get my money back.

He began utilizing his marine gimmick while the action picture got here out, his new action picture is a few cop, so who knows in line with threat he will carry out a little police gimmick, yet its uncertain, i think of he would be this "marine" gimmick for a protracted time.

have to agree with you on that one,but I tend not to judge a book by its cover either cause the best books have the not-so-greatest covers
