I own a 94 camaro z28. I start it up, it runs ok for 1 minute, then stumbles, backfires, then sometimes it dies, if it stays running, it runs bad until the service engine soon light comes on, then its ok again.
I replaced the Mass air flow, and the o2,s . what do you think it is?

Bad optispark. LT1's are notorious for this. There are aftermarket replacements now. I've seen them in Jegs and Summit.

if you have a check engine light...this may sound odd...but I'm saying your temp sending unit is bad. This will allow it to start but then in a minute the temp sending unit says the car is warm and shuts down the fuel.

Normally the temp sending unit will give the computer a cold signal...making it run way too rich..but from the sounds of it it's doing the opposite..telling the computer to run lean..not enough fuel. this will cause it to backfire..then not run.

It also could be that your fuel filter is clogged...but I dont' think so. Just don't sound like that.

The other culprit may be your timing chain...but if it was bad then it would stay bad and you wouldn not run at all.

the only other thing I can think of is your ignition module in the distributor...this could be bad...and they will be tempermental at times. take it out and take it to the parts store...they can test it for you.

Good luck

Have it scanned to see what codes are stored in PCM this would be the first line of diagnoising the problem A mass air flow sensor might make it die but 02 sensor would not .

Ther are too many things that could be wrong, the best advise is to find out what is causing to light to come on and got from there.Guessing can be expensive Mass airflow and O2 sensors are not cheap.......GET A DIAGNOSIS

Camaros are known to have bad fuel pumps and spark plugs... I would check these two items... I suspect the fuel pump because the engine sounds like it is not recieving adiquate fuel.

i own a repair shop, and it can be a number of things causing it to do this,it could have moisture in the distributor cap,of this one has a distributor in it,or it may ne a crack in the cap causing it,or possibly a burnt valve in it,like i said there are a lot of things to check,it may also be real bad out of time, and this will cause it to do this a lot.and the timing chain ,and gears may be about worn out in it,i see this a lot on the Chevy,s,,good luck,i hope this help,s.and have a happy thanksgiving.

It needs a major tune up. Sparkplugs and wires. Timing belt. Something is not firing correctly. A local shop should easily fix it.

Sounds like the optispark. They're famous for that kind of thing.
