lip gloss is glossy and more liquidy
lip balm and chap stick are mostly the same only chap stick is kinda medicated
and lip sick usually adds alot of color

Lip Stick is typically used for color. Chap Stick and Lip Balm provide an occlusive layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure. Dry air, cold temperatures, and wind all have a drying effect on skin by drawing moisture away from the body. Lips are particularly vulnerable because the skin is so thin, and thus they are often the first to present signs of dryness. Lip Gloss is used to give lips a mildly glossy look and sometimes subtle color.

Lil gloss make your lips glossy & shiny. Lip stick adds color to your lips. Lip balm & lip chap is the same, they are for when your lips are chapped or cracked....but people use them for whatever, but why does matter?

Balm-Moisturizes lips with either petroleum or and Spf
Chap-Is actually a HUGE brand name for lip balm...but is the same as Balm

lip gloss is shiny and clear, lip stick comes in different colors and is dry, chap stick can be either shiny or plain, and soothens dry lips, and lip balm is about the same as chap stick.

Lip gloss - glossier, shinier, more sparkley. It's also in a liquid form. It's also used for fashion/glamor/style.
Lip Balm- is usually in a wax form. It is used less for glamor and fashion, and more for medical reasons such as chapped lips.
Lip stick- wax-formed into a cyclinder shape. It's not as shiny as lip gloss, its more matte.
Chapstick - is just like Lip balm. It's used for CHAPPED lips. Less for glamor/fashion/style and more for neccessity.

Lipgloss are more on the cosmetic side and almost always are not medicated. Lpbalms and lip chap help you from having chapped lips and are usually medicated.

Lip gloss is glossy, sometimes with sparkles and color, with no added help to your lips. Lip balm can also be glossy, colored and scented, but isn't as noticable but moisturizes your lips. Chapstick just moisturizes your lips.
