"T" meaning subway or train. The stations and subway trains in Boston are the easiest in the world to use. The maps are everywhere in the system - in every station, on every track platform, and in every train car. I find it impossible to get confused there. Now in NYC the 6 is local except when you are on weekend or holiday or on this track or that track and these stations close on weekends and then the express is local and local is express and maps are almost non existent and employees have no idea where trains go except the one taking them home to The Pits of New Jersey after work. But I love NYC about one billion times more than Boston.

As the other folks said, the MBTA website http://www.mbta.com should give you all the info. you need about fares, schedules, maps, etc.,
On the other hand, if you're looking for reference material, you could try
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBTA
The homepage of the MBTA's police department is at: http://www.transitpolice.us
One other website you should take a look at: http://www.mbta.net
You can blog, get answers to your specific questions from other passengers, or just blow some steam off about delayed trains, rude passengers, unhelpful station attendants, etc.,
Good luck.
