The biggest issue of the sixties was putting a man on the moon. Then Kennedy was shot and that was all but overshadowed by the same bunch who brought us Iraq taking us into Vietnam. Then there was Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement. The time was about freedom, the rights of men and women, and what this country should be about. Some of these issues made it through, while the movement itself was systematically crushed, partly by the shooting deaths of both Kennedy brothers, Martin Luther King, the students at Kent State, the police riot in Chicago against the war demonstrators. "We will have no more of this" was the message that came through loud and clear.

what about them? part of the 1960's was the war in Viet Nam and the Kennedys having been assassinated and the world recovering. When something like that happens the country almost stands still in shock.

The first decade without foodstamps. Can't speak anything bad about the USSR- otherwise one might lose their job. Lots of ugly concrete houses are built. Paying off wardebts, still a way to go.

Liberal Hippie Thought. Free sex, free love, drugs, antidisestablishmentarianism, (whoa.. ..I've never had to spell that word before, don't even know if I got it right), make peace not war, Equal Rights, Civil Rights, etc. etc.
