Here is a great Q&A page about lizards. http://www.uga.edu/~srel/ecoview11-27-05.htm
And here is a brief quote from it:
"Yes, green anoles hibernate in colder regions of their geographic range, which includes the Carolinas, southern Tennessee to Arkansas and east Texas, and throughout the other Gulf states. They often hibernate in large groups and were probably congregating in late fall before it turned cold. Anoles spend winter under bark, inside rotten logs, or under boards of houses and barns. They can be seen on some bright, sunny days in winter, basking in the sun. As far as feeding them, they will do fine with no help from us as they eat little or nothing in winter. When spring arrives, they will begin feeding on small insects and spiders around the yard."
Hope this helps!

Find out what kind of lizard it is first, then run to the pet store and get some crickets or something. Where do you live, as in, what state? Is it cold like snowy cold, or is it just like in the 40's, 50's, or 60 degree weather? If it is snowy, I have no idea what a lizard may be doing there but if you live in Florida or something it might be maybe a green anole or gecko of some sort. I don't think you should feed it ants because my friend tried with her anoles and they avoided them. If you go to the pet store, maybe you could buy a heat lamp or UTH (under tank heater) to warm it up. Take a picture and ask the employees to tell you what it is. Don't be surprised if they can't tell you, though. I don't trust pet store employees that well. Good luck!

It's time for the lizard to hibernate. It's looking for a warm place to spend the cold months in. Take it back outside when the sun is at it's highest and warmest point. It should have time to find a natural place to be.

You live in Florida how cold does it get there? (it's below zero here) I'm sure he'll be ok to let out of the house, if your worried about the temp then wait until morning when things warm up.
