I live in PGC right now in maryland and I use the Wic program for my baby. You can either choose from Similac or Enfamil and if you have any problems they will allow you to choose which one is best for you. Im not sure on the soy milks since my baby hasnt had any problems with her milk, but i am positive about the Similac and Enfamil.

I heard that a note from your doctor is what you need to show WIC. In CA, I think Enfamil is the brand WIC covers. When I went to a Wal-Mart, I saw "WIC approved" stickers on the Regular, Soy, Gentlease formulas. So, in your state, you should be able to get other types of Similac. If Similac doesn't work you can ask your doctor for samples of another brand. Also, Enfamil and Gerber send me coupons all the time and I end up leaving them on the shelves at the store because I don't use them.

There is some variation depending on your situation. Usually (at least in NY) it is standard Enfamil with Iron; if the baby has a milk allergy or is premature, the formula might change. (It can be Enfamil ProSobee soy formula or Nutramigen, which is for preemies.) It's very seldom you'll see any other kind of formula specified, but if there is it is written explicitly on the WIC check itself.
(Rarely you'll see a specification for Similac.)

I have used WIC in Wisconsin and Minnesota. It was explained to me that at the beginning of '06 they had switched brands and now had a contract with Enfamil. I was led to believe this was everywhere. Call your local WIC clinic and ask...also the nurses in the OB usually know.

It is Enfamil! If your baby has an allergic reaction they can adjust it for you to a soy formula if needed but it is Enfamil with Iron!

in florida they use carnation goodstart supreme with DHA and ARA. I didnt know that it was different from state to state. but i do know that if you baby has special needs they allow different formula. My friend needed a really exspensive brand that started with an "A" i cant recall the name but it was near $30 a can. they coverd it all.
i would call the local office and ask.
