Two reasons:
1. Blacks are generally racist against anyone that isn't black
2. Blacks are particularly jealous of Asians since for the most part they are successful in America despite being a non-white minority. Blacks wonder why they can't achieve this success.

I'm sorry that you feel this way about blacks and Koreans. But "Saigu" was a long time ago. I'm getting the impression that you're not fr: LA (like me). Blacks do not hate or like to attach asian owned stores....look at the Wu-Tang Clan. The latinos and whites are very capable of attacking them stores, so single the Blacks out.

As far as the 1992 LA Riots aka LA Uprising, the LA Asian community called this event Sai-Gu. I agree w/ Rob B above about the inter-cultural hostility. To add some light about what was going here is that both cultures were at fault. If you don't know, Koreans have a stereotype of being greedy and immoral entrepenuers. Koreans used the wealth of low-incomed Black communities to build their fortune. Koreans will have a liquor store (not a grocery store w/ food) on every street corner in the black communities and sell items at much higher price than in a middle class community because the low-incomed blacks do not have access to anywhere outside of their communities. Koreans ran a monopoly in the ghettos. And once they finish earning all the little money from the ghettos, they go home to their San Marino/ Beverly Hills mansions, I know my best friend (who is Korean & parents own a liquor store too) invited me over before. Many Koreans were rude and agressive towards Blacks regardless that they were their primary and respectable customers. Koreans would follow individual customers throughout the stores to make sure they're not stealing. They would yell, threaten and hurry customers out the store. (Have you seen the movie "Don't Be a Menace...." they're won't exaggerating about the Korean store owners). So much for customer service and community respect.
I saw the video on the news regarding the black pre-teen girl being shot in the head by the Korean store owner. The girl didn't have a weapon herself nor was she robbing the store. An argument about the cost of some candy/soda, stimulate the store owner to kill the girl and received no prison time for it.
Other factors that sparked the hostility is the language barrier, immigrants vs Americans issue, the rich versus the dirt poor, the model minority issue verses the most hated group of people in the WOrld issue. If you're going to run an in-person business within a different community, do some research, some basic understanding of the dynamics of your customers at least.

Please do not think I'm reinforcing what the blacks and other exploited and underpriviledge people did. But whenever this question about blacks hostility towards koreans, please do not think the Koreans got attacked because they were just there or too close or at the wrong place and wrong time. Take responsibility for what's happening in your communities (personal & in business).

Take care though. It's like Ghandi said "You have to be the change you want to see in the world."

In the criminal Underworld there is a rivalry between Blacks and Asians for supremacy.

This is why those Black people hate Asians. They regard Asians as outsiders who came to America to still their business. The story is much the same towards Mexicans and Puerto-Ricains.

Why do you think America has so many gang wars?
It's all about controlling and retaining their crime territory.

When they attack Asian Stores, they send a message to the Asian Underworld that their people will get punished if they don't back off.

Asians cannot retaliate in the same manner as they would face the prospect of being deported.

I don't think you can say that black people "like to attack Asian owned stores" based on one tragic incident. And as I recall, blacks were not the only people rioting.

But I think the main reason the rioters attacked those stores is because they were close at hand and also as I understand it (though I don't live in LA), there was a lot of inter-cultural hostility between blacks and Koreans in LA at the time due to a high profile shooting that left a black girl dead at the hands of a Korean shop owner who got off pretty light.

Plus there were some cultural issues - like Koreans not looking black customers in the eye when speaking to them and refusing to place place change in their customers hands - that led to a good deal of mistrust and hostility.

I think you've jumped to a sweeping conclusion when you say that "blacks hate Asians." America is a huge country and LA is just one city. I haven't seen any evidence of a national beef between blacks and Asians nationally, though I do know that there's been some racial tension between blacks and Asians in parts of NY. But ethnic tension seems to be a normal part of NYC, so I'd be surprised if there weren't black/Asian tension some time there.

Why do Black people hate on Asians for owning liquor stores in their hood? Because many black people are jealous when a non black people come into an all black neighborhood and begin opening up stores that other black people do not own. The other side of this coin is that many black people feel that it's not right for non black people to come into their neighborhood and start making money off of black people by selling them alcohol and cigarettes.

I dont believe that black people go and all agree to attack the korean owned stores. I think that in LA for instance that there just happened to be a lot of Korean owned stores in the area of the attacks. I think everybody knows that in general most Asian people are peacefull non violent people.

First of all, rioters really don't plan beyond an inital goal. They wanted revenge on white cops, but after that, they were just rioting in general (meaning anyone and anything is fair game)

Asian shopkeepers had been largely sucessful in areas where many black people had not been. If their shops were destroyed, black businesses might be able to flourish (so the crazy rioters thought)

not only black, white people, asian people - also rob somebody or the other. and when somebody is planning to rob somebody they seee how easy it is?
and how much unity or back does this person have. if somebody knows all black/white/brown people around and is in goodterms - do you think anybody can rob him???????????????/????? NO.
