Try Richard Linklater's Waking Life
It was made in the same style as A Scanner Darkly (rotoscoping) and is a series of philisophical conversations or monologues dealing with a range of topics with only a basic plot thread of a man who can't wake up from his dreams tieing the experience together.

Definitely check out Donnie Darko. Movie will make you think.
Also, Memento is cool because it tells the story in reverse. It starts at the end, and the movie shows how he got to that point.
