Hi i have acer labtop and i have a problem where a worm virus of medium risk from isearch is constantly trying to attack my pc say like every half and hour (no joke) well it gets blocked. I have a trial version of spykiller (which said it removed it..but keeps coming back) and spydoctor(which wants me to pay to have it removed). I have used yahoo norton antivirus spyware protection(from the toolbar) says it removed it. Its still there and its in the registry please oh please help me. This is driving a girl crazy. I can see if i go to add remove programs mysearch is there. When i try to remove it it says it can not be found. Now i don't know what to do so i just got windows defender from microsoft. I need a spyware program that i can trust to remove this stuff. I did back up all my stuff and i would be willing to do a restore to the point when i bought the pc but technical support is closed and i dont' know how to do it on my own. If my hubby wasn't in Iraq i would ask him. Help!!!

Use this to remove it.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

I had a similiar issue when I intalled the Ares P2P service. Try uninstalling the program that you installed, disconnect from the internet, run your Norton program, and download and ruin Spysweeper Search and Destroy.

This should fix the issue. If not, use the Windows System Restore (or, better yet, Norton GoBack if it's installed) to restore to the day before the first incident of the worm.

If that doesn't work, use your original install disks that came with the Acer laptop (I happen to have an Acer 5000 myself, the disks should be available) and run the system restore disk.

Best of luck!

Turn on your Yahoo Messenger option in Answers. I will send you the latest version of Ad-Aware SE Plus that I paid for . It will remove the Trojan and viruses. You might also need to use other software like SpyBot Search & Destroy (do not use similar sounding programs) or Hijackthis, both available at http://download.com . Be sure to update any software before using.

If you are unfamiliar with computer registries, do not use Hijackthis because you can cause damage.
It sounds like you have the same Trojan & subsequent viruses I had. I have an Acer laptop too. I will be happy to help and I'll stay online to walk you through any trouble. You can contact me by Yahoo Messenger (I remain invisible) or email. Both are available in my Yahoo Answers profile.

and if you have a wireless router follow these tips,

1. Use WPA encryption (WPA-PSK) it's less crackable then WEP.

2. Make a passphrase that is upper & lower case and has some numbers thrown in there as well, again harder to crack.
some like mAkE1t5eCurE0rel53 and as long as possible.

3. Use MAC access control so only you or authorized PC's can connect (even if you do have encryption turned on)

4. Turn off DHCP use static addresses.

5. Turn off SSID (and change it) unless your card really needs it (some do)

6. Change username/password of access unit front end

7. Ensure you have the usual firewall enabled on your PC.

8. Paranoia rules, turn WLAN off if your not using it :)

one last tip
control panel---administrator tools--services--messenger

right clik on it
stop the service
then disable it
save changes

Sorry to hear about your spyware problem. I should mention that SpyKiller is a rogue spyware program. "Rogue Spyware" programs are software programs which claim to remove spyware, when in fact, it installs spyware or display pop ups that your computer is infected and you should purchase their software to fix it.

There are no shortage of good free antispyware software programs. Unlike antivirus programs, you can and should install more than one antispyware program. I recommend downloading and installing Spybot Search & Destroy, Lavasoft's Ad Aware and Microsoft's Windows Defender. All these program can be found at (http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/). On the site, there are other excellent antispyware programs, but, for now, let's just concentrate on these 3. Download all 3 programs.

Once you have download these programs, you will need instructions on how to install and use them. Thankfully, the website MalwareHelp.org offer several tutorials on how to use these programs. They provide step-by-step instructions.

1. "How to effectively remove Malware using Spybot Search & Destroy" (http://www.malwarehelp.org/how-to-effectively-remove-malware-spybot1.html)

2. "How to effectively remove Malware using Ad-Aware SE Personal" (http://www.malwarehelp.org/how-to-effectively-remove-adaware1.html)

3. "Getting Started Using Windows Defender" (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/support/howto/default.mspx)

You can install multiple antispyware programs but only scan one at a time. If you need more information, just drop me an e-mail. Internet Security is one of my hobbies.

First: Try using microsoft defender, you can download it for free from microsoft.com. Try running it, and see if it finds stuff to remove.

If this doesn't work, and u still have this problem. try this, but be very carefull:
1. go to the start menu
2. click run
3. type msconfig and hit enter
4. click on services tab
5. click on hide microsoft services (VERY VERY IMPORTANT)
6. click disable all services
7. click on startup tab
8. click on disable all
9. click ok
10. restart ur PC.
11. now ur PC is starting without ANY thing running on it except its original stuff.
12. run microsoft defendere again.
13. This might diable some programs, if u have trouble running them, just re-install the program
Heope this helps

I trust Shaun even although you all gave him thumbs down! in case you're having project with historic past this could nicely be a homestead windows "equipment" function which ability the equipment data could have been corrupted. you are able to attempt to reload homestead windows over actual of itself via re-installation to comparable homestead windows itemizing, you are able to attempt the "fix" function jointly as attempting to re-set up, or make it elementary as Shaun reported,....why mess with a team of data? It purely takes a pair of a million/2 hour to reload homestead windows XP and you ought to have a clean (sparkling) load of your laptop.
