ipod & mp3 questions.?

i might be gettign an ipod or an mp3. i have some questions 4 you. how many songs can u get on ur ipod/mp3 if it is 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, and so on. and how do u put songs o nur mp3 player, i dont understand it.

my ipod is 2 GB. and it can store 1000+ songs. 3 GB, I suppose it is 2000+ songs. And so on. 1GB = one billion bytes.

I'd avoid an ipod. If you already have a music collection I'd go with something like a creative labs zen. www.creative.com. Just because Ipod has the largest market share, doesn't mean it's the best quality product. MP3 file size, and how much you can fit varies. I have a 6 gig, and I have about 1000+ songs on it, with about 2 gigs to spare, I am a bit of an audio freak so I have high quality sound encoding. (192 to 224) The average encode ranges from 64 to 128, Generally, if you read the small print on the box, when it says it can fit X number of songs it's in 64 bit, which is really, really bad. For me, comparable to the sound coming out of a phone earpiece.
To put songs on an mp3 player, you will connect it to your pc by a USB or Firewire port, depending on what kind of mp3 player you get. Usually they'll come with a program that will let you move files from your computer to your player, also, it should let you rip cds and put those songs on the player. i think it matters how big ur music is and if it is like 30 min long it will get used and and and u can download limewire for limewire.com and u can download music from there then save them and add them on real player then add them to ur mp3 or ipod but if u get the ipod with videos u buy the movies from itunes
