I am wondering because I am on a soccer team that I have played on since I was in 8th grade, and I'm a senior now. We have tons of talent, and I don't start anymore... Its embarassing... Should I stick with it?

I would say yes. You don't want to start quitting things in any part of life. Stick it out even though you are not getting the playing time it will help you build character. The biggest regret I have is quitting my baseball team my Senior year after I had a 3rd degree separation of the shoulder and was out for the year also ruining chances of playing in college. I feel I would have learned a lot more about life in just the last month and a half of the season if I just stuck it out.

Talent is most often developed; starters usually practice more than other players. They practice at home, on vacation, on the practice field . . . all the time. Their mind centers on the game.

As a coach, I have observed the players on the team who outperform the others. They are constantly dribbling, taking practice shots, juggling, and moving. They do this before practice, after practice, and every time they get the opportunity.

So if you are strong, fast, and naturally coordinated, you are not necessarily going to be a starter.

You can't be selfish. You must be a "team" player and show confidence in your teammates.

You must work harder than the others to earn that start. Most importantly, you must enjoy the game. If you do not enjoy it, don't do it. If you enjoy it and want to start; practice, practice, practice.

of course...stick wtih it. first, you should notever be embarrased as long as you do your best when you get your shot, that is all you can do. More importantly, the lessons you learn, facing adversity, being a member of a team, how you handle success/failure, etc. are all things that will help you later in life. Staying fit and in shape is another key point that will benefit you in many ways. And, finally, if yo are planning on going to college, lettering in any sport is a positive thing on your applications.

Hang in there my man and just do your best.

Sure!
Sports is a great way to stay involved with your school and meet people at the same time. Even if you don't make it to the next level, you'll always have great memories.

There still may be a chance at a college scholarship. Free college would definitely make it worth it. Just have fun.

well nothing is worthwhile if you aren't the best and don't do extremely well at it. if you like it, then you should keep going. if not then you should stop
