Since you are majoring in Sociology I assume you are interested in society and culture, and perhaps in what you can do to enrich your life and someone else's. If you aren't afraid to delay graduation for a year, you might consider working for a while, saving up some money and then volunteering either in the US or overseas - with some reputable (or even grassroots) organization. Or, you might consider volunteering for Americorps (if you live in the US) because there are all kinds of programs out there for all kinds of different things. Kind of like the peace corps but shorter term projects. Having graduated from college now many years ago, if I had been braver - brave enough to try something a little out of the ordinary, and wiser - wise enough to know that a year out of my life to do something like that would be worth the graduation delay... I'd have done it. Oh, and by the way.. in xchange for a year of service, they give you money for school. Kind of win-win.

Think outside the box!!!!!
