There are a few ways to find the best affordable health insurance for low income people.

You could check in your yellow pages under "health insurance" and meet with an agent that specializes in health insurance. They can show you several plans and quotes to help you find the lowest health insurance plan that provides you with the coverage you need.

Another option would be for you to compare health insurance quotes from reputable quote providers online. That way you can compare quotes with no pressure at your convenience and see what it would cost you at different deductible amounts and with different coverages. Then, you could ask the company or an agent to help you purchase the coverage and answer your questions before you choose.

Two of the leading health insurance quote providers online are:

1) InsureMe - they give you up to five free health insurance quotes from top-rated health insurers nationwide. To Request a free, no obligation quote, Go to - http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=613598&Type=health

2) eHealthinsurance.com offers you side-by-side quote comparisons from a large network of health insurers across the country.

Before you buy make sure you understand how the Co-Pay works.

Also, review all exclusions, especially any Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusions so you know what is or is not covered by your plan.

Choosing a higher deductible may save you money on your premiums, but make sure you can afford to pay the deductibles if you have frequent health problems or claims.

I hope that helps. Best of luck to you.

when you are buying an individual policy today you have to think catastropic. Take a $2500 or $ 5000 deductible. Tremendous savings even with the big name Companies such as Blue Cross, Humana, etc. Get used to your medical bills being like monthly ones if you visit or need quite often. Your major medical limit should be anywhere from 2 million to 5 million to cover you after the deductible. Then you won't be losing your house, car and savings account. Cover for the big accident or illness. And premiums for women are higher than men because they are sick more often. So you are almost forced to do this or do without and that would be a catastrophy. Hope this helps.

Cons- Many doctors would stop being doctors. There would be a shortage of doctors. It could take months before someone can see a doctor because everybody is making appointments to see doctors.
