One thing that I have always wanted to do in life is to Have a non-profit Animal Sanctuary. What education or permits would I have to have to do this?

Hi Bree, first of all it depends on which country you live in. Every country has different laws about animals kept in sanctuary's.

You will need permits relating to the animals( again depending on species kept), also knowledge of feeding, habitats, breeding etc. You would also need lots of land to keep different species comfortable, again, this would be in accordance with the governing body of wildlife in your country/state. Each law is different, and my suggestion would be first, to do recommended training courses and learn about each type of animal that you wish to house in the sanctuary. Its a lot of hard work ahead of you.

Personally, i would rather see animals where they belong in the wild and not in a zoo/sanctuary. I am a wildlife rescuer/carer and in my 10 years doing so, have learnt so much about behaviour of different wildlife, and have also seen the damage that has occured when someone with no knowledge or experience has tried to do the right thing, and not asked for help, end result is usually the animal has to be euthanised due to being fed wrong diets etc, deficiencies in bone growth etc, and other things which are needed for this animals natural hunting instinct and survival.
