Deep fry--messy and dangerous, but if you follow logic and good safety sense, it yields excellent results. Tender and moist
Water smoke it slowly over low temperatures using a mellow wood (not mesquite)-- time consuming, but yields excellent results. Tender, moist and tasty.
Baked in the bag thing--moist results.
Standard baking --boring, and not as tender, and usually dry.
We've been doing bake offs between the oven and the water-smoker. (We've got a large crowd so two turkeys are in order.) The water smoked turkey always wins.
And deep fried, with an experienced cook, simply cannot be beat.
Good luck and remember, it's a family togetherness type holiday.
Just stay away from the jello salads, OK? Thanks.

Deep frying is very messy and can be dangerous, make sure you do it outside away from anything flammable. The best way I have cooked a turkey is in a cooking bag... No mess, all contained in the bag, the pan does not get messy so you don't have to scrub the pan, and easy to cut a corner off to pour the juice out to make gravy and the turkey is never dry. Oh, don't forget to take the innerds out before cooking the turkey. Check all the turkeys orifices for paper bags with the organs and the neck..Happy holidays.... Hope this helped...

deep fry! they sell the kits at grocery stores. when u eat it it is not at all that greasy. when it is done cooking u let it drain and then when u carve it the inside meat was sealed in by the skin thru out the deep fry, the meat is tender and moist. very excellent in taste. my dad tried it 6yrs ago and we have been doing it ever since.

The basting bags work really well--don't mess with other expensive options. I've done it most ways and the bags are cheap and easy.
