You can try an over the counter remedy called abreva which shortens the time of a cold sore. I personally swear by tea tree oil which is natures natural antiseptic, I get mine from Body shop for about $8. As soon as I feel the tingle I put it on and it stops it, but if you pick at it you will make them worse and it will last longer.

My wife is a pharmacist, and I receive cold sore myself. My wife has told me that all medications you get OTC (over the counter) only increase healing time by at most a day. I still use what is called camophinique. I feel that it works for me. Dr.'s cannot "cure" it b/c there is no medication that will "cure" it. It will subside and go away, but will eventually come back at some point.

Try using peroxide. Either rinse your mouth, depending on where the cold sore is or dab it with cotton soaked with peroxide. Doing this several times a day will get rid of it sooner than any other product. Good Luck and Good Health

First of all a "cold-sore" is related to the Herpes visus, simplex 1
It may be too late to correct this problem. You did not mention exactly where it was located. If you can see a Dr. "either" will kill the virus. Clorox will also.

ABREVA! Works well and quickly.....Also keep it handy and when you feel one coming on the Abreva can actually keep it from fully forming...
