There are a few locations in Houston, TX that have adopted this new trend. It has a setup like Starbucks in an area of the restaurant and serves specialty coffee drinks and smoothies. Cool Concept, but unsure if it has caught on yet.

They are also rolling out a new interior decorating model for all their franchises, to be implemented sometime in the near future.

McDonalds only sells coffee in their standard restaurants in the US (currently).

Micky D's likes to customize a few things when they open a store in another country. For example in India you won't find any Big Macs or other beef on the menu, in fact the entire menu lacks meat.

In Germany they sell the national drink of Germany; beer in their restaurants and I bet you can find wine sold in French stores. In Belgium and the Netherlands they offer mayonnaise for their french fries, which would horrify most Americans.

Here in the US Starbucks pretty much has the coffee shop market locked up and these shops keep springing up all over the place. They are successful so I wouldn't be surprised if McDonalds tried to duplicate their success over seas. But, I doubt if we will see here in America.

McDonalds has a business model in America and I'm guessing they're going to stick with it (You can buy coffee in an American McDonalds though)

I think you are confused. It's coffeshops that are building near a McDonalds, as far as I know, they don't own coffe shops.

I think it's a little too late to act on the trend but yes they seem to be phasing it in here in the midwestern US.

What do you mean by "making coffee shops across their stores"? I have no idea what you're asking.
