The only way to tell is to take their bodies to a vet to have a necropsy done (an animal autopsy). There are a number of reasons why a pet could have died. Many petstores sell sick animals or animals with birth defects or other genetic defects. A necropsy is the only way to tell how your pets died.

Guinea pig are prone to cancer, Bladder stones, and illnesses, If any of your guinea pigs were pregnant than toxemia might have killed them. Or their front teeth could have over grown and caused them to starve. Still harmful fumes, heart failure (if they were obese), chocking on a seed, a rapid temperature change, old age and scurvy.

Possibly you bought a bad bag of food. It happens, and unfortunately being such small animals it could have devasting outcomes. Sorry about your loss. Thats terrible!
