Fighting, shooting, driving trucks into stores, robbing stores, stealing from dumb customers waiting in line ALL NIGHT LONG - and people wonder what is wrong with America? All this for a stupid little electronic game. If only there was this much energy and interest in voting, volunteering, getting rid of bad politicians, and doing something about stopping the American occupancy of a sovereign country - but no, those things aren't important. It makes moving to Iran look a perfect choice after all.

I agree with you but I can say I understand why they do it. Tonight those people who spent $600 on PS3 will be playing PS3 tonight. Yes I am sure that they realize that in a year or even 6 months the price will significantly decrease but these people are living in the now, realizing that life is only temporary and you must enjoy every moment God has granted you.

Some are doing it for profit, selling the units for 3X the price they paid for it.

Some are emotional cripples who feel that $600 is a small price to pay for a fleeting sense of identity.

Some are just fools who don't realize that piecemeal releases are a manipulative marketing strategy and that their 'follow the flock' mentality creates massive, free media exposure for the product.

Apparently it's so they can have "bragging" rights. For instance, bragging to the neighbor how they got several (to scalp) while the neighbors kids end up crying on Christmas morning cuz Santa didn't bring them one. Crazy ! And you are right- it makes a lot more sense to be patient and get one later at a better price!

I don't know but it scares me. My son is one of those who camps out and waits. He is at a Wal Mart right now, for over 24 hours for the Wii. He told me he is only young once.

Supply and Demand. Apparently it's some kind of statement if you have one of these systems before everyone else does.
