It doesn't matter how much a Democraticly controled congress wants troops out Iraq. The troops are under the control of the Comandar and Chief. The Congress can't order the troops home. Only the President can do that.

Yes as Commander IN Chief the president IS the only one that can order them home. But then democrats control the purse strings. If they want them home but the president says NO all they have to do is cut the funding for the troops. I think that would be like committing suicide if the Democrats did that because the AMERICAN people would NEVER forgive them. The republicans would regain control in 08 for another 12 years. So even though the democrats could do that , they will not.

The congress controls the purse strings, I hope that they don't because it will put our people in Iraq in extreme danger but they can unfund the war in effect bringing it to an end.

Exactly. There is something that is called the war powers act, and yet its never been used, and they don't have the 2/3rd majority to enact it anyway, so the troops are still well under the control of Bush. Thank goodness too, otherwise Pelosi would be in charge. Yikes!
