Officially it hasn't finished. a film version has been in progress since 2001, but it'd been beset by various problems: the cast wanted more money, producers hadn't enough cash for the sfx, there were location problems and Kryten and Cat fell out in real-life.
Last i heard rimmer had quit altogether - that was ages ago. Chloe Annett got married and had baby, so she's out of it.It's on hiatus which is a pity cos the movie was meant to tie up the previous 8 seasons and continue with new adventures.

There's always been a red dwarf movie "due to start soon" but between various people in the cast and crew faling out and hating each other it hasn't ever got far. Last i heard there was a script and a budget and it was going into filming. But that was a while ago now.

The plan was for the movie to tie off series 8 (so no plans for a series 9 as yet).
There was however talk of a movie since the end of series 4 (out of which nothing came).

a film was talked about a few years ago but since red drawf Craig Charles has done robot wars on the BBC ( re runs on sky one and the sky network n general) and is currently in corrie so done actually no what is happening. i did hear that the cast had a bit of a problem with Craig over some allegation that was made against him but don't know if the allegation or problem was true.

I read somewhere that since Craig Charles has got more work on tv he is pricing himself out of any chance of re-uniteing with the crew and also Danny Jon Jules[cat] is heavily into his theatre roles and directing/producing he cannot give up any time.
