Oh my gosh, it was so good. Has anyone else seen it?

Yes! I ended up with a free night in NY on a business trip about a month ago, and was able to score a front-row seat. When Carmen Ghia throws the bouquet to Roger at the end of "Springtime For Hitler," he was standing right in front of me to do so. I loved it.

What a performance! I kept thinking "THIS is why you go to the Theater." And somehow, it was great seeing this show as my first play on Broadway, since that's what it's about.

The actors who played Bialystock and Bloom were very good -- the more so because they weren't trying to "imitate" Lane and Broderick (or Mostel and Wilder, for that matter). It was not only enjoyable but useful, since I'm in rehearsal for a play based on a popular movie (I'm adult Ralph, the narrator, in a stage adaptation of "A Christmas Story," so my challenge is not to try to do an impersonation of Jean Shepherd while at the same time capturing the cadence and personality of his writing.)

But yeah -- "The Producers" may well have been the most enjoyable night I've ever spent in the theater (well, on the audience side of the proscenium, anyway. :-) And I spend a lot of nights in the theater... It REALLY deserved all twelve Tony awards.

"When you got it, flaunt it!"
