Yes, to both this and your previous question.
If people were limited to only playing roles that are the same as what they are like in real life, then they wouldn't be acting at all. All actors need to be able to portray a range of different people; that's their job.

Why not? Straight actors have played the roles of gay characters.

Why not? Should Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Dustin Hoffman, et al have dressed up like women?
It's acting. How about "Brokeback Mountain"? Straight actors.
Remember when Tom Hanks and Antonio Banderas played a gay couple in "Philadelphia"? Anything wrong with that?

Why the hell not? The craft of acting depends upon professionalism, talent, timing, training and methodology --- NOT what you, as an actor, do with your penis.
Look at British actor Rupert Everett. He plays it straight wonderfully on film. The guy deserves an Oscar.
You are not gay when you're paid to assume the charater of someone else.

Do you realize how may gay actors there are on TV that are in the closet? Football players, action stars.
You've had a hero or two that were gay and you didn't know it...did it matter? Are you warped because of it?
Then why care?

If they impress the casting director, they should get the job. Actors act.

A part is a part. I understand why you can't get a role because of race, that can't be hidden, but you can act a different sexuality. Hence the name acting.

So many have, and will. Note Rock Hudson, Richard Chamberlain, Tony Perkins, James Dean, Joan Crawford (bi) among a great, great number.

its a job. they are acting. so let them act. see the movie or whatever for its story. not about the characters real life ( even though there are some real crappy movies out there that certain people should not act in like ben afflec or how ever you spell his name). try not to judge.
